How To

How to make wood joints

This tutorial will teach you how to join two pieces wood together. We will use the pocket hole joint, which is drilling holes in the wood to join them. This method works great if your wood is straight and smooth. You may want to consider other methods, such as dowel joining. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. First, measure the area where you wish to place the pocket joint. With a handheld drill machine or jig saw, drill 3/4-inch deep holes in the ends of each piece.
  2. Sand Smooth. The wood's edges can be sanded to prevent splitting.
  3. Glue both sides together. Apply glue on both sides of the wooden plank. Let the wood sit for 5 minutes, then clamp it together.
  4. Secure the pieces together. Once the glue has dried, clamp the pieces together so they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. Trim any excess wood surrounding the joint once the glue has dried completely.

Allow enough space between pieces so you can turn them inside out.
