Clean up glue

While glue can be a great tool for woodworking projects, cleaning it up is quite an art. While rubbing your hands together with glue can help get rid of excess glue, soaking your work in sawdust can lead to wood swelling. You should not rub wet glue on any work. Use sawdust instead to create a barrier between glue and wood.

Measuring accurately is one of many tricks in the woodworking trade. A story stick will help you see any obstacles to base cabinet placement, including any walls, plumbing, and wiring. It can help you decide where to place your cabinets by identifying the obstructions. You can make your project easier by using a story stick to guide you. The toenail trick is a woodworking trick that will save you a lot of time. When framing a piece, you need to know where to start and where to angle the nail. Start the nail at a 45 degree angle and angle it down. This is done by placing your toe on the board and visualizing the nail's path. How To

How to make wood joints

This tutorial will teach you how to join two pieces wood together. The "pocket hole joint" is a method whereby we drill holes into the wood and glue them together. If your wood has a straight grain, smooth surface, you can use this method. You may want to consider other methods, such as dowel joining. Here are the steps

  1. Drill Pocket Hole Joints. You will need to measure and mark the exact location of your pocket hole joint. With a handheld drill machine or jig saw, drill 3/4-inch deep holes in the ends of each piece.
  2. Sand Smooth. Sanding the wood's edges will ensure that the joint doesn't split.
  3. Glue Together. Apply glue to both sides of the wood. Let it sit for about 5 minutes before clamping the pieces together.
  4. Clamp the Pieces Together. After the glue has dried thoroughly, secure the pieces so that they are flush.
  5. Trim Joinery. Trim the excess wood around the joint after the glue has dried completely.

Make sure to leave enough room between the pieces so that you can turn them inside and out.
